Roma Hospital Student Accommodation Precinct
Acacia Road, Clearview Rise
In June 2019, the state government committed $5.95 million to construct a health-based student accommodation precinct to support the new $70 million Roma Hospital.
The purpose of the accommodation is to provide trainee healthcare professionals with a more permanent accommodation experience during their regional placement.
The precinct is within walking distance of the hospital grounds and offers quality open spaces, along with residential and communal pavilions that are connected via elevated boardwalks and are all specifically designed to create a sense of community.
In April 2020, Woollam Constructions, a company which has extensive regional experience, was appointed as the design and construction contractor to build the project.
Detailed design for the precinct is now complete, with construction to be undertaken between late August 2020 and April 2021, weather permitting.
This precinct is the first of its kind in regional Queensland and will create an abundance of benefits for:
- the local Roma community by having more resources and services available,
- the Queensland health training industry by providing improved learning opportunities to nurses and doctors, and
- the local and wider regional job market by having the opportunity to employ from within the community.
View the approved Development Application and decision notice for this project (DEV2019/1083) on the Department of State Development, Tourism and Innovation website, Economic Development Queensland website.
In relation to the construction of the precinct, allowable work hours are 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday.
